Are you willing to show your vulnerable side to your kids?

When I was a kid I believed “Adults” had it all figured out. Life to my mind was a series of checkboxes.

  • School
  • Uni
  • Job
  • Marriage
  • House
  • Car
  • Kids
  • Promotion

I had a very happy childhood. No complaints. In fact, I am extremely grateful that I grew up in an environment where I grew up feeling loved.

Adulting, however, looked like the above list to me with the exception of having a relationship and heartbreak, which the movies taught me.

In essence, I grew up believing the only thought part of adulting is the heartbreak en route. Hahahahha, that is my only reaction to it. I was a naive 20-year-old.

Fast forward, with a 10-year-old daughter, I have different notions of what a kid should know. I have a different lens on what I can bring to her life.
